Question:

I have small warts outside of my mouth on upper lip are that are small from HPV. Are they contagious? Any remedies. Thanks?

hi,
I have small white bumps on my lips and am wondering what they are. What do yours look like? I have heard of Fordyces granules, which are essentially misplaced sebaceous glands that can show up on the lips. However, I don''t know what I have. I seem to be steadily getting more, never do they disappear. I fear they are HPV also. My gynecologist claims they are glands but I am skeptical.

Ok I have these tiney white spots on my upper lip (middle part), they are starting to appear on my under too all on the part from my skin to my lip... my doctor couldnt tell me what it was, though she COULD tell me it was nothing (wtf?) Anyways i kept on going on about it and she sended me to a dermatoholigst! He looked at it and said it were (i''m sorry i am from the Netherlands, so don't know the english word, sorry) "Talgklieren" anyways, NO WARTS though... i can find SO little info about these dots, nor about those "talgklieren" on your lip! Though he said, they can appear on your lip but it isnt contagious... and even if you WANNA contaminate somebody you couldnt do so... i doubt that this is it... but i am a virgin (no hand jobs/oral sex either) so i wonder if it could be warts...

But i am afraid to kiss somebody...My lover knows of it, we haven't kissed yet, i told the doc said it was nothing, though i dont wanna contaminate him with anything if i perform oral sex on him or kiss him... even if the doc's both said it is nothing contagious... i don't know, i read nothing in the web of wich i can say, WOW THAT'S IT! but these things i read here come close, but with me it aren't bumps... they are just flat and dont hurt nor can i feel anything of it...

Any advice???

hi,

I have small white bupms on my upper and lower lips. I had them for about 10 years and I''m 25 years old. I had laser surgery twice with no improvement. My dermatologist told me they are glands that we all have but mine are overgrown.
If, anybody outhere suffer from the same and can comment about this, I would like to hear from you.

who makes the diagnosis though -

a dermatologist?
a dentist?
an oral surgeon??

there has recently been many news articles about how doctors are finding out oral hpv really isn''t so uncommon. too bad my doctors don't seem to take me seriously when I mention this. i have many small white bumps on my lips, and get more all the time. and i've resorted to clipping them out with toenail clippers. yes i'm obsessive although they haven't been returning, nor do i have health insurance, nor do the several doctors i've talked to ever seriously consider my theorythat these bumps are hpv. i do have hpv on the genitals, and had given oral sex to an infected person (without knowing about it).

I have the exact same thing in my upper lip. they do not seem to stop growing at all. Yet, they are spreading fast on my upper lip and also my lower lip now. I have never tested for any of these STDs. I am honestly scard Genital Wartsless about this. Keep on posting you guys.
Thank you all.

One can catch HPV during child birth so even virgins can have if the mother had genital HPV.

While it is possible these are "Fordyces granules", that particular diagnosis seems to be the "textbook answer" most doctors give, without regard to your particular circumstances. If you are actively engaged in sexual relations with someone who is known to have HPV, and/or you are "speading the HPV around" by, for instance, having oral sex (with an infected body part), then kissing immediatly after, it seems to me the more likely scenario is that these are HPV warts.

I had this situation, and I know they are HPV warts, as my partner started getting them at the same time. "Fordyces granules" are NOT contagious, yet the doctors keep giving this diagnosis anyway. Hello??

In any event, I don''t know what you do about them, other than stop having sex with the infected partner, or putting you and your partner through a thorough checkup for warts everywhere you may be touching, and treating any suspect areas.

Putting a tiny amount of Aldara on the specific parts of your lips seems to work slightly, but I've not come to any conclusions about whether this can clear them up completely.

From the research I''ve done - warts outside the mouth, or even in the mouth are quite uncommon. I would reccomend getting checked out by a dermatologist who would be able to give you a better idea of what you're noticing and how to treat it. Sorry I can't be more of a help. As always, stay healthy!

I have the same problem as everyone in this posting. My Story...Male 20''s with off and on genital warts gets oral sex from partner. My partner has itchy lips.. we kiss, my lips get itchy. I get flat warts on my face and body as does anyone that comes close to me-as little as a handshake or using my phone. I dismiss it at first... go to many dr's next, who say that i am OK. 2 years later i am practically crazy because everyone that i have had the least bit of contact with has the symptoms 1) itchy lips, 2)flat pink warts 3)problems breathing, or flulike symptoms. Can't confront because of guilt and fear. Genital Warts would be easier quite frankly, but i don't believe in suicide, so i must walk the earth and suffer. Maybe I will get the courage to talk to everyone, friends, and co-wprkers. I believe that this is a national health epidemic that is not being given attention. We must demand attention for this illness. I will do my best to confront the people in my life, but am so afraid of the outcome.

yellow-ish or white bumps on the upper lip right?
You also have these bumps on your face above the
cheeks, below the eyes.
AND, but not only Possibly around the genitals?
Guys, foreskin?

This is called Fordyce''s condition.

Not Contagious, not dangerous. No treatment is needed.

You still want a treatment so bad that you'd risk
your life for it? If so, there's a very effective
and very expensive drug called Accutane, which
works everytime, but results may vary for some.
Side effects are very common and dangerous.
Regeneration of the oil glands will occur after
you stop using Accutane, not to mention, some
side-effects occur after stopping the usage.

Glycolic Acid is also a good way to "reverse" the
process. You apply it directly to the skin daily, it
takes about 6-10 weeks to slow down and reverse
the process of "Fordyce's Condition". Once you
stop applying Glycolic Acid to the specific areas
regeneration of the oil glands will occur.

Please don't be alarmed, Fordyce's Condition is
not dangerous at all, it is completely normal,
I have it too, it's ok, don't worry.

The cause is unknown.
Usually it runs through the family.

Personally, I came to America from Middle East Asia,
and after 2 years of being in America, I got these
bumps, it's either hereditary and age, or dietary
and diet-span.

** 'MY' Analysis **
Fordyce's Condition seems to act like cancer,
it's not dangerous like cancer, but it simply
acts like cancer, since it keeps regenerating
and no drug can destroy it.

I guess us few people with this condition will
never get real medical attention until someone
funds enough money to act against it, just like
they do for curing cancer.

I'm a 17 year old male, it's hard for me to have
small bumps on my upper lip. Girls nor I are looking
for love at this age, so I don't want to go up
to a girl and say, "Hey, I have these bumps, will
you still kiss me?" They're not contagious, but
the girl might notice the bumps and freak out.
So you have to tell your partner before they
notice and freak out. Tell them this:

*Fordyce's Condition is not contagious,
*Fordyce's Condition is not dangerous.
*These Oil glands are a part of my skin,
and they don't give off any particles.
(meaning oil glands are not disgusting)
_____________
Please make sure you have Fordyce's Condition
before you stop caring about your skin condition
and end up infecting others with some type of
virus or herpes. Thank you, responsibility is appreciated.

Good luck to you guys, and to me.

Yeah, I have two of the same thing. Very small, but very annoying! I don''t know if they are HPV, but I am strongly suspecting so. In answer to the question about who diagnoses this... The first time I had an oral outbreak treated, I went to the local health department. They suggested that I was HIV positive, so I completely freaked out. After my test came back negative, I went to a dermatoligist because I had more outbreaks and didn't want to go through the HIV thing. He was not suprised at my outbreak and was very helpful in treating them effectively. Others are suggesting ear, nose, and throat doctors.

The garlic remedy is by far the best natural one available.

It really works and anyone who doesn''t try it for visible warts is missing out.

If you can see the wart itís treatable. Get the garlic sliced as much as possible, preferably blended really finely and apply for at least one and 1/2 to 2 hours. You will see results immediately and just keep applying until it's totally gone. While it does hurt a lot, it's better than having a virus living on you for the rest of your life. Best thing about this remedy is that it will not damage anything but the wart.

Hi, I also got hpv in the mucosa of the lip Not visible from outside, after having rubbed my lip on my coat after having hit the handset of a public telephone, I was afraid to catch herpes...but I caught a wart. I cut it off and I thought it was ok, but it wasn''t, it spread outside under the lower lip because i shave with a blade and my saliva got there, but that autoinfection gave only a bump and other little ones..but it is better now. I also infected my gum, it resorbed, but there are always very little bumps that remain, atypical. so the best thing i have done yet is multivitamins and minerals it helps the immune system.I also tried zinc supplements to enhance t-cells replication, but it gave me nauseas and vomiting, so I stopped zinc. Hpv infection has diminished in appearance, they say it should clear completely over a long period of time.

I think everyone should just chill out about the entire situation. There is no reason to be stressed out about it. If you are. Go to a doctor. Does it really matter???? I mean come on. Talk to the person that you want to be with sexually about what you may or may not have. If they truly want to be with you or dare I say love you. Then it shouldn''t make a freaking difference what you may or may not have. If you are really that worried go talk to doctors and get multiple opinions. Try not to get them from people on the net.

Attn J to the guy with the itchy lips, pink warts, and flu like symptoms it is your responsibility to see a doctor and then to confront your coworkers and friends. I understand your guilt but if you keep quiet you make a bad situation worse. Please see a doctor and let him know of your findings.

TO the person who says its normal to have these little white bumps all over your lips,.....

you can''t be more wrong. After making the mistake of sleeping with a person that had them, I got them. I never had them before, i was perfectly fine. Have them on my gentail and my lips. Im deeply upset, because i cant start new relationships in fear of giving this to others. It sucks because im 20 years old, a sph. in college, and its my function to met new people and interact. It really starting to put a big damper on things. I forgive the person who gave this to me... because i know she knows that i have it now, and i know how she feels. Im just not gonna make the same mistake of giving it to someone else and not being responsable enough to tell the person. I really wish i could have a relationship and actually still kiss. I gave this to my Ex girlfriend and it just a matter of time before it comes out in her too. I some times really just wanna put a gun to my head and end it all but, i know i cant... so i dont. Im gona give staying postive a shot and try not to stress. I'll try that garlic for my lips and start eating all organic, and get my immune system up. If anyone has any advice on getting ride of this that not negtive, please comment on this. THANK YOU :)

Dudes and dudettes, if you should have oral warts or think that you do, just go to your local drug store or retail store and pick up some Centrum A to Zinc. Just pop a pill a day and within a week or two, you''ll notice the warts starting to disappear. Building up your immune system is the best way to fight against warts. Heck, even if you don't have oral warts, the pills will really help your body.

I also have these white bumps
I first noiced them in the corner of my mouth/lips, I was really worried then because
I just gotten oral surgery, had oral sex with a new partner(that I''ve haven't talked to since because of the bumps),then I got streep throat(I think, from her I don't know) I first saw them after slightly chapped lip, worse in the corners. Now they are all over my inner upper lip, some on the inner bottom lip (the contact area to upper)now it is spreading to my gums, Just one or two bumps. I've looked at the pics I don't think there warts. But the one on my gums and innner bottom are looking like some little blisters, rather then the little bumps on my lips. The corners are not so bad anymore. They were starting to look like cold sores and that is what really feaked me out. I going to try garlic. Wish me luck

I just tried the garlic treatment for a wart-like spot on my upper lip and it was a bad idea. The whole area around it is scabbed over and dried up and the thing looks way worse than it did before. It is obviously effective at doing something but be careful, make sure that the garlic does not rub anywhere near the area around the wart, so make sure it is a small piece of garlic.

this is fordyce:
Fordyce spots are small (1-5mm), slightly elevated yellowish or white papules or spots that can appear on the glans or shaft of the penis, labia of the female, inside of the cheeks and on the lips. Fordyce spots are a variant of sebaceous glands (the glands that normally produce sebum and are usually found within hair follicles). Fordyce spots are sebaceous glands without hair follicles. They are present in 80-95% of adults. They are probably present at birth but become bigger and more visible from about puberty onwards. They may occur as a solitary lesion or more frequently in crops of about 50-100.

Sometimes Fordyce spots cause anxiety but they are completely harmless whether on the lips or on the genitals. They are not a sexually transmitted disease and they are not infectious.

The importance of recognising these papules as Fordyce spots is in the differential diagnosis of other conditions that may appear similar. Some sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) may start off looking like Fordyce spots on the genitals so it is essential to get a proper diagnosis from your doctor. STDs need to be treated appropriately with medication.

I wanted to respond to this because you can get this on the outside of your lip. I want people to know this. My husband has been dealing with this for about 7 months now. It is terrible. He has had it cut off twice. Its been froze probably 20 times. He also is using aldara. When they done the biopsy they said it was a genital wart. Let me tell u it was huge, it started on the corner of his lip and ended up being on the both upper and lower lip. It can happen. Please be careful. God Bless You All!!!

To the person who wrote this..........

"I think everyone should just chill out about the entire situation. There is no reason to be stressed out about it. If you are. Go to a doctor. Does it really matter???? I mean come on. Yes I agree, multiple opinions by different doctors is a great idea, but we must realize that not all doctors notace everything, as there have been so many cases of people not being treated for what their illness has been.. not to mention people being walked out of the clinic who needed serious help and were told by their doctor that they are just fine. Talking to people who have similar problems is very useful, and the internet is a tool we can use to stay annonymous while getting and giving advice from our own personal experiences. YES there is reason to stress if you think you have something and it could be serious.. and the net is not the place to stop looking for an answer, you should seek professional help, but for many looking on the net is very helpful and useful.

!

First off, if you smoke and have hpv QUIT. if you are a heavy drinker as well, cut down. Exercise, eat right, take multi-vitamins and you''ll notice a huge difference.
Stress is also a huuuge factor in most health issues, so trim down the stress as well (easier said than done).
Practice safe-sex, habitually, unless you're in a serious relationship with someone. This will not only give you piece of mind but can and will save you from freaking out about having STD's.

Yes HPV is contagious, if that is what it is, but the lesions CAN be treated with new laser treatments through a qualified dermatologist - even the non HPV lesions can be lasered with non-ablative laser like LASERFacial or others. Do some research for the name-brand lasers used for acne treatment. They will also treat your condition - and they are not painful at all, but can be a little expensive. If you are being treated for a medical condition like this, your insurance will likely pay for some of the cost.
Everything is treatable - you just have to do your homework. :)

I have exactly the same thing and worried about them for months until I sought medical advice. They are called Fordyce spots, and are completely normal and very common. There is no treatment as they do not require treatment. They are usually barely visible, no one has ever commented on mine. I often worry about the paranoia that some of the responses on this website cause as a lot of people post incorrect suggestions which only serve to make people more concerned.

Ok let''s get this straight. Those little white bumps all over the inside of your upper and lower lips are NORMAL!!!! Get anyone to flip up there lip and stretch it out a little bit you'll see that almost everyoen has those little white bumps they are NOT warts. Think about allll the poeple that have posted the same concern "little white bumps" don't you think is 9 out of 10 poeple have them they might just be normal and nothign to worry about? Relax, take a breath and dont' worry they're nothing!!!

Not sure if anyone is still interested in this topic, but I have had HPV on my genitals for three years now and what I SUSPECT are warts on my upper and lower lip for at least one year now. I have used Aldara, had my genital warts burned off at a local clinic several times (they recur), and have even tried cutting them out. Nothing really seems to work. The bumps on my lips are whitish-yellow, they are clustered together, and worse, some are getting bigger. I have one lump on my upper lip which is most definitely a wart of some kind. I can''''t find any pictures on the internet that describes them properly, but most are only 1mm in size, almost like pin-heads. The warts on my genitals are the same size and color (hence the reason I''m assuming they are related). I''m pretty sure the HPV got into my mouth either through kissing or oral sex, or possibily even through touching my penis and then my mouth. This is a seriously scary situation, and nothing seems to be effective. I have used Accutane in the past for acne and found that it does indeed make the warts in my mouth disappear, but they do recur again soon after in the exact same places as before. After checking the boards, I am on the fence about herbal remedies and resorting to using garlic. If anyone has any useful s about this affliction, please post.
